As you might know, Mees is a real mountaineer. He literally climbs on everything he can and often can’t help but fall off of it (he always has bumps and bruises on his head), to happily climb back on it again afterwards. He is not afraid of anything. Hmmpf.. He also has found out that he can push the stool from the living room to the kitchen, to use it to climb on the countertop. Very dangerous! I have numerous frightmoments a day where my heart skips a beat and I go into a cold sweat. I am wondering how long this phase will last, because Sam never went through this phase!?
You can probably still recall that awesome desk by lemodi which was in Sam’s room? Mees loves this desk and often wants to sit behind it, but still can’t get the chair under the desk when he sits on it. For this reason, he doesn’t see what the desk is meant for and instead uses it for climbing on the highest, smallest shelf. We chose to take the desk downstairs and made it (by using extra ordered components) into a picnic table so that both the boys can use it. Instead of two separate chairs, we now have two sturdy benches.
The possibility of buying separate elements really is a great idea because it makes it possible to keep rebuilding your furniture. We now have enough separate elements to build a bench, desk or picnic table. And not just any bench or desk. It really are sturdy planks which are beautifully finished and indestructible. The furniture by lemodi really contrasts with our white desk from IKEA which has already over a hundred scratches made by toy cars all over it (OOPS!) haha. I don’t know about you, but I often have a spontaneous desire to make changes. I then move everything around. How perfect is it that I now have furniture that I can change in a few minutes? Really a great invention!
The last few weeks the table really has proven to be useful as well. We had some friends over which stayed for dinner. The kids could eat at this table, and we could eat at the dinner table in peace. Ideal! I also can’t wait till the weather gets better and we can finally take the table outside… Having a picnic in the park! Unfortunately I think it will take a while… Well, let’s take it to the ice-skating rink instead then ;-).
