The moment Danny and I became parents, we made an agreement to go away with just the two of us for a couple of days at least one time a year. We both have demanding jobs and our two boys ask for a lot of attention, so we sometimes miss each other as buddies. We used to do everything together: exercising, shopping, going out etc., but lately we often choose to just stay at home and relax on the couch instead when the kids are in their beds. Sometimes he goes out with his friends or I go out with mine. We don’t often really do things together or have good conversations anymore. When we are with just the two of us at night, we are often too tired to talk. It’s a shame, isn’t it? I’m maybe being too honest with you right now… (sorry Dan!). At some point it can start feeling as if you are only running the family and at the same time are living separate lives. To avoid just this, we go away for a few days once a year. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!! Sam stayed with my parents-in-law and Mees stayed with my parents. In this way, it’s more relaxed for our parents and it’s also nice for the boys to get individual attention.
Previous years we’ve been to places like Ibiza or New York, but unlike previous years we decided to go snowboarding this year. Danny is really good at snowboarding and he has taught me how to do it a long time ago. Pff, that was a real challenge after having skied for so many years! My heart skips a beat when I see him snowboarding. He is so talented! In those moments I am so happy that he’s my husband!
You have probably already seen some photos of the beautiful hotel we stayed in on my Instagram? It’s a five star hotel providing everything you could possibly need. I think I have never seen such luxury before. I have laughed so many times because of the things we experienced! Heated toilet seats and even silver dinner sets. A whirlpool with a television, a made bed twice a day and new towels. It was cold outside, of course, but I have never been in a swimming pool this warm! (34 degrees Celsius) It was absolutely amazing! My feet tingled when I stepped into the water. The whirlpool was even 38 degrees Celsius! And when the snowy mountains and fog surround you… Wow. It was truly magical! We went snowboarding for a few hours every day, but afterwards we rushed to the SPA. There are multiple swimming pools, saunas and a saltwater pool. And as someone replied to one of my photos: ‘’Do you send everyone away to take these photos?’’ No, haha! Although the hotel was fully booked it felt as if we were with just the two of us.
Talking to all the moms out here: This hotel also takes children into account. Children younger than four years old are free and you only have to pay half the price for children from four to eleven years old. There are family suites available which have a separate room for the children, and there is a playroom and a babysitter if you’d like. There is also a children’s pool with a slide in the SPA area especially for the kids. I think we are going to stay at this hotel again with Sam and Mees sometime. They are going to love it!
I haven’t talked about the food yet… OMG! I have started Personal Bodyplan 4 weeks ago and this was the ultimate test. In the mornings there is a buffet breakfast. I have never seen such an extensive buffet in my entire life. Pancakes, waffles, omelettes, fish, meat products, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, pie, several vegetable juices. Everything you can possibly think of was there! There was a Wellness buffet from 3PM to 5PM. During this buffet, you could choose from several kinds of pie and fruit. At 7PM it was time for dinner which consisted of five to seven courses. Danny and I have skipped a course a few times, because it was soo much. During the first course you could pick things from the buffet. After this course we had often already eaten enough, because everything is so delicious! The hotel is really thoughtful about serving healthy (but also gluten free) food. Very pleasant! I could write for hours about our experiences during our stay at this hotel, but I think I made it pretty clear that this is the best hotel ever.
Besides, it was really pleasant for Danny and me to clear our minds. To focus on our goals and talk about how to achieve them. I also had a lot of fun with him. He wasn’t only the father of my children, but also my man and buddy. I love that so much. But I am happy to be back with my boys again now. We’ve really missed them. We facetimed several times a day and when we gave kisses over the phone, I really wanted to give them a hug in real life :-). We are definitely visiting this hotel again!
For the ones who also consider staying at this hotel I have a little surprise!
